Tower
Titan

©1982 Dureco Benelux 88.037
320 Kbps Vinyl Rip

Symphonic Powerrock from the Netherlands. The band had a big hit in Holland with "See You Tonight" and a minor hit with "Goin' Home". The vocals from Marian Pijnaker are increddible strong and the orchestration from Dick Bakker and Hans Hollestelle are ELO-esque. Most of the album written by Catmusic who are famous of their own but under other names (Catapult, Woodpeckers from Space, Videokids, Monotones & the Surfers just to name a few).
-
The album was quite succesfull but a second album was never recorded. Tower disbanded and Marian Pijnaker (vocals) and Cor van der Hoogt (Guitar & Vocals) continued as Split Decision. They released one single "Action" [download] but could not reproduce the succes of tower.
-
Listen to the power of Tower!

Fred van Zegveld
Hammond Organ Dynamite

©1969 Basart Park LBP 3006
320 Kbps Vinyl Rip

Fred van Zegveld became known as the organ player of a charting Beatlesque group called Roek Williams & The Fighting Cats, though they changed their name into Roek's Family on the day Fred joined them in 1968, ready for their biggest hit Get Yourself A Ticket in '69.
-
1969 must have been a busy year for him, because Van Zegveld was also a member of a group called The Flood that year, together with two musicians that also played in Roek Williams's group: Richard de Bois on bass (who became a top producer ten years later, for amongst others The Dolly Dots) and Will Luikinga on sax and flute (who became a famous dj on Radio Veronica afterwards).
-
Van Zegveld's only solo album "Dynamite" shows his love for Booker T & The MG's, Jimmy Smith and such, though most of the tracks on it are his own compositions. Van Zegveld, who is still active as a musician today, doesn't even own a proper copy of his album anymore, and if he wants to buy one on eBay, he has to pay at least 300 dollars!
-
tracks: 1. Family blues (Fred van Zegveld) 3:19 / 2. Here, there, and everywhere (Lennon/McCartney) 3:07 / 3. Daffodil (Fred van Zegveld) 2:00 / 4. Blue organ (Fred van Zegveld) 3:19 / 5. Joep Bruijnjé
Vitamins

©1982 Idiot Records
320 Kbps

Joep Bruijnjé's work is famous without being famous himself. He wrote songs for "La Grande Parade", a project from Henk Hofstede (Nits) and he wrote many songs for Jiskefet (Dutch comedy) including the leader. But he is not famous because of his music but because of his photographs. Talking Heads, Michael Jackson, XTC, Phil Collins, Herman Brood, Billy Joel, Prince, The Police, The Cure, Robert Fripp, Simple Minds and U2 are all being photographed by Joep.
-
In 1982 he recorded his own minialbum (10"/25 cm) with the help of some idiot records artists. Fay Luyendijk (Fay Lovsky), Robert Jan Stips, Klaas ten Holt, Jacob Klaasse, Mathilde Santing , Peter van Straten, Rob Hauser are all playing on the album. The music is like the Kewi's, Fay Lovsky or Nits with a tip of Gruppo Sportivo.
-
tracks: 1.: Trois Sur Quatre / 2.: Ghetto Boy / 3.: Back To The Border / 4.: Caroline / 5.: Twice A Year / 6.: Just Another Day / 7.: Billy / 8.: Painting And Drawing / 9.: Last One

Dennis Dunaway Project
Bones From The Yard

Deedledoop Records 2006
CD-rip 320 Kbps

Who doesn't know the music of Dennis Dunaway?
-
Dennis was once the bassplayer in the original Alice Cooper group. After they disbanded Dennis played in Billion Dollar Babies, The Flying Tigers, Buck Dharma, Antbee and most recently in Bouchard, Dunaway and Smith (BDS). Along with doing shows with BDS, Dennis also has another band called the Dennis Dunaway Project.
-
A nod to the great 70's anthem rock with just a hint of mayhem. If you like the classic Alice Cooper then you won't be disapointed by the Dennis Dunaway Project.

The Pete Best Band
Hayman's Dream

Casbah Coffee Club 2008
CD-rip 224-320 Kbps VBR

Wich ex-beatle made the best album in 30 years?
-
Normally I won't post anything what's been released quite recently but I am totally stunned by this album. Listening to this album one can only wonder what great musical contributions he could have made to the Beatles if Pete Best was not been replaced by Ringo Starr. We would miss "Don't Pass Me By" wouldn't we?
-
Well, Pete was a Beatle a long, long, time ago. Best joined The Beatles on 12 August 1960, only one day before they were to go to Hamburg to play a season of concerts. He was dismissed from the group two years later, on 16 August 1962. His drumming can be heard on the Silver Beatles "Decca Tapes" and as one of the Beat Brothers (Beatles) on "Tony Sheridan and The Beat Brothers" as well on the first "Love Me Do" version.
-
Best later relocated to the United States along with songwriters Wayne Bickerton and Tony Waddington. They ultimately released an album on Cameo Records titled "Best Of The Beatles". The group disbanded shortly afterwards. Bickerton and Waddington were to find greater success as songwriters in the 1970s, writing a series of hits by the Rubettes.
-
Nowadays, The Pete Best Band regularly tours the U.S. and he recently released this album. All tracks on their new album Haymans Green is written or co-written by Pete Best. The lyrics are very "autobiographic". Haymans Green is is filled with wonderful songs and is without doubt Beatlesque.
-
What about that little torn piece of photo on the albumcover? It's the piece of history what is missing on the Beatles Anthology album...
tracks:
1. Come With Me 2:23 / 2. Step Outside 3:57 / 3. Start Again 2:38 / 4. Grey River 3:18 5. Gone 2:34 / 6. Dream Me Home 3:47 / 7. Everything I Want 3:37 / 8. Beat Street 2:05 / 9. Broken 3:56 / 10. Red Light 4:00 /11. Haymans Green 3:04

In 1982 a single came out.
As the album was already printed and in the stores you'd get the single for free if you desided to buy the album. It came in a plain white sleeve, the White Single :-)

A side: How The West Got Lost. This could be a little bit plagiarism.
B side: Fortune & Fame. A shorter and instrumental version as appeared on the album.

The Beatles Revival Band is a german cover band, founded 1976 in Frankfurt, Germany. The Beatles Revival Band has been called “the most successful cover band ever” but before they started recording only covers they made an album with self written tunes in the style of the Beatles. Listen to it five times and you start to wonder why they ever continued as a coverband and not as a rockband with their own songs. If you like Beatles, Klaatu, Oasis, The Smithereens and/or Crowded House (just to name a few) this is for you.
-
The Beatles Revival Band is Bobby Matthes, Klaus Larish and Christian Engel. Jim (James) Hopkins-Harrison (of the band Lake) is gueststarring on leadvocals (tracks 2, 3 and 8).

Ingrid Kup
Feel Me

©1982 Teldec Digital 6.25034 AP
320 Kbps. Vinyl rip

Ingrid Kup, great voice, no recognition. Once she was half of the duo Big Mouth & Little Eve who had one hit (Uncle) in 1975. In 1977 the duo stopped and Willem (Big Mouth) and Ingrid (Little Eve) both went solo.

In 1981 Ingrid collaborated with Frank Duval and made a few singles and an album. Frank wrote the songs and produced them. The songs can be discribed as powerballads (think Bonnie Tyler or Doro)

Direct Metal Mastering (DMM) is an audio disc mastering technique developed by Teldec. Instead cutting onto a lacquer-coated disc, DMM cuts the groove directly in copper metal resulting in a higher quality.

Tracks: 01 Love what's your face / 02 What's there about her / 03 Hey butterfly / 04 Song of hope / 05 I'd Like To Be Your Woman / 06 Feel Me / 07 I Will Not Die / 08 Do you remember / 09 Tears in your eyes / 10 Life Goes On

Although there is no mention on the album that there was any Queen involvement here, Brian's guitar playing style, Roger's high voices, Freddie's writing style and Queen harmonies are all around. If they didn't play on this album then Queen had some unbelievable skilled copy-cats.
For the album, its less surprizing as "This One's On Me" but its surprizingly good, more accessible and more rocking.

Tracks: 01 D-D-D-D-D- Danger / 02 Doesn't Give A Damn / 03 Believer / 04 Sweet, Sweet Music / 05 Legs / 06 Star Circus / 07 Tear Down The Walls / 08 This Fab Samba (A Cautionary Tale) / 09 The Black Swan / 10 Talk About Me

Two students Kees (KE) and Willem (WI) released this on their own idiot records label (previous 1000 idiots, meaning that there always be 1000 idiots would buy their stuff). It's not easy to categorise their music, it's just too strange. Try some Squeeze with a bit of David Bowie mixed with Gruppo Sportivo and Nits.

Some tracks do end very adrupt. That's not a fault in ripping or coding but it's the way te Kewis intended them.
