Sobrietas
-
CD rip, 224 kbbs /Dino Records 2253 /Released in 1990.
-
Allthough this CD is titled Sobrietas it's not the same as the original release from 1982. It's more a kind of a sampler containing 5 tracks of the LP Sobrietas (tracks 2,7-10), 3 tracks from the Hi-Tec Heroes CD (track 4, 5 & 6 ) and 2 tracks were singles (1 & 3). Missing are "Overture in S", "March Of Hope", "Nostalgia for Earth" and the song Giddiyap a Gogo sung by Daniel Saluheka wich was a big hit in the Netherlands.
-
Despite the missing tracks it's a great Electronic, Synth-pop, Ambient experience.
-
Tracklisting:
1 Head Over Heels In Paradise (4:52) / 2 Delicate Balance (3:30) / 3 Hallucinado (4:20) Vocals - Maggie Reilly / 4 The Lone Hero (6:57) / 5 Futurian Symphony (9:16) / 6 No News From The Western Frontier (5:41) Vocals - Gary Brooker / 7 March Of Hope (4:50) / 8 Nostalgia For Earth (8:48) / 9 Relief Of Demorzan (5:28) / 10 A Last Farewell (4:00)

Davy Jones
Davy Jones
-
vinyl rip, 256 kbbs
Bell Records
Released in 1971.
-
His first solo album, "David Jones" was released in 1965, but didn't chart. In the fall of 1965, Davy was the first to be selected as a member of "The Monkees." Davy left the group in late-1970. The group reunited several times since then.
-
Soon after he left The Monkees, Davy signed with Bell Records to release his second solo record, simply titled "Davy Jones." The 1971 album contained the single, "Rainy Jane" charting at No. 52 in the USA. He sang "Girl" in a episode of "The Brady Bunch" (the most re-run episode of any TV show in history). Davy Jones did not change the world with this album, but he did put together a pleasing product.

Bramlaan - Aloft In A Balloon

In 1979 Bram Laan won the "vara's voorstelling", a new talent contest. Bram meets Don Willard who's got a recordingstudio (MusicFarm). Bram starts writing and recording with Don and the result is "Aloft In A Balloon" released in 1981.
-
Bram tells on his homepage that Jimi Hendrix is his main inspiration. He is also influenced by Peter Gabriel, Preisner, David Bowie, Prince, Sting and Deep Forest. The way Bram Laan sings resembles that of Peter Gabriel.
-
He uses strange soundeffects like thunder, rain, deformed vocals and walking on gravel. You might think that you get some weird psychedelic stuff but you don't. What you get is Electronic Acoustic Fantastic.

Hartmut Zinn - Heiles Land

DGG 2372155 (p)1982
mp3 320 Kbps Vinyl rip
-
In 1972 there was a guy named Mike Oldfied. He released his first solo album "Tubular Bells". Only two long instrumental tracks. But what an impact!
-
Ten years later a guy named Hartmut Zinn released his first solo album "Heiles Land". Basicly only two long and three short instrumental tracks. Every track of this album looks like an free Interpretation of an Mike Oldfield track. Especially "Tubular Bells" is his inspiration . It looks even more like Mike as Mike himself. But no impact at all...
-
No impact, but it could have happened if he had made it eleven years earlier :-) It's a nice album and a great one to let it hear to a Mike Oldfield fan and say: "Hey, I found a really nice Mike bootleg with unreleased songs" . Succes guarranteed.
-
Tracks: Barfuß im Gras (3:22) / Schmetterlinge (1:45) / Heiles Land Teil 1 (20:55) / Morgennebel (3:33) / Heiles Land Teil 2 (20:12)

Max Werner
How Can It Be... Like This?
-
Polydor 835 747-1
Released in 1988.
-
Third solo album by Max Werner, the former singer/drummer of Kayak. He didn't score a hit with this album but it's a good album with no flaws. He dropped the drum-heavy sound but added some great arrangements.
-
All songs were written, composed, performed, engineered, arranged and produced by Max. exept for "God Only Knows" wich was written by T. Asher & B. Wilson. The fragile "Die For You" is i.m.o. the best ballad Max has recorded.
-

VC-People
Mystery Of Bomarzo
-
Jupiter Records 6.24647 AP
released in 1980
-
VC-People is a project of Klaus Netzle who has made many recordings under various names. Carlos Futura, Claude Larson, VC-People and Tri Atma, its all Klaus Netzle. He also produced many electronic disco songs.
-
Klaus is one of the veterans of making music on a moog synthesiser. His first album as VC-People was filled with classical music called Galactic Classics and was released in 1979. He wasn´t happy with the result cause he felt he could´t do with the music what he wanted due to the well known compositions so he desided to make his own with the Mystery Of Bomarzo as a result.
-
Equipments used:
Synthesizer Roland, Oberheim, Moog, Seq from Roland and Vocoder from Syntovox.
-
If you like Kraftwerk, Giorgio Moroder, Ambient or Mysteries then this is something for you. If you are only into Pavarotti or Wolter Kroes then you´d better skip this one and leave a comment about what the **** you are doing here :-)
-
1 Bomarzo (5:13) 2 Ogni Penserio Vola (3:34) 3 Dance Macabre (4:42) 4 Every Thought Has Wings (3:26) 5 Moonless Night (4:16) 6 Echoes From The Past (6:07) 7 Castle On The Hill (4:55) 8 Mystery Of Bomarzo (5:35) - All in one track (to prevent unwanted pauses between the tracks)!

Emitt Rhodes - Daisy-Fresh from Hawthorne, California (The Best of the Dunhill Years)

BRCD 001
Dunhill Records/Edsel Records UK 1998

This 23-track CD covers the three records he made for Dunhill in the early 1970s, including all of his self-titled debut solo release. Emitt Rhodes sounds eerily reminiscent of Paul McCartney, but his strong songwriting and the deeply emotional qualities he brings to his songs make him far more than a McCartney clone.

Most people are discovering Emitt just now, long after he faded into a footnote. Emitt should have been as big as any pop star on this planet, but it was not to be.

1. With My Face On The Floor 2. Somebody Made For me 3. She's Such A Beauty 4. Long Time No See 5. Lullaby 6. Fresh As A Daisy 7. Live Till You Die 8. Promises I've Made 9. You Take The Dark Out Of the Night 10. You Should Be Ashamed 11. Ever Find Yourself Running 12. Your Must have 13. Bithday Lady 14. Better Side Of Life 15. Mirror 16. Really Wanted You 17. Love Will Stone You 18. Golden Child Of God 19. Warm Self Sacrifice 20. Blue Horizon 21. Shoot The Moon 22. Only Lovers Decide 23. Tame The Lion

Jack Lancaster - Skinningrove Bay

BRCD 001
Bold Reprive Records 1987
-
Blodwyn Pig and Aviator member Jack Lancaster released his first solo album in 1981, the very beautiful Skinningrove Bay. The album has been reissued in several shapes (Some of them called by mistake "Wild Connections" but "Wild Connections" was in fact another album from Lancaster collaborating with Rick v.d. Linden) and this is the 1987 version as the first of a serie of reissues on Bold Reprive Records. I think they printed not many copies because you can't find much on the web concerning this release on BRR (exept for the secret vault that is).

The list of musicians appearing is:
Jack Lancaster (sax, lyricon, flute, keyboards, vocals), Phil Collins (vocals), Bernie Frost (vocals), Gary Moore (guitar), Hughie Burns (guitar), Mick Rogers (guitar), John G. Perry (bass, vocals), Robin Lumley (keyboards), Rick Van Der Linden (keyboards), Rod Argent (keyboards), Clive Bunker (drums).
Skinningrove Bay is a fascinating, highly unique and beautiful suite of progressive Rock music with Celtic, Nordic, Jazz, Church and Pop influences. It deserves a place on the shelf of any discerning collector of Classic Rock Music.

Ryan Cabrera
Elm Street

2001

Ryan Cabrera honed his musical talents in Texas, spending his teen years playing in various bands and creating a name for himself in the Dallas music scene. Beginning with the band Rubix Groove, Cabrera then went on to perform as a solo artist, and would travel around the country, just him and his acoustic guitar. His independent release, “Elm St.,” was extremely successful. Elm St. soon was sold out at local record stores, and it began selling strongly via the Internet and Cabrera grabbed opening slots for artists such as Sister Hazel, Howie Day, Ben Harper, Third Eye Blind and the Pat McGee Band.

01 - Last Winter Intro / 02 - Spanish Song / 03 - Yesterday's Gone / 04 - In My Life / 05 - My Friend John / 06 - Reasons Intro / 07 - Reasons / 08 - Lost Again / 09 - I Will / 10 - Last Winter

Once Ryan Cabrera felt he was ready for the next step in his career, he hooked up with Joe Simpson, father of Jessica and Ashlee, as his manager. He was soon after signed to Atlantic Records, and after touring with folk-songstress Jewel, and pop icon Jessica Simpson, he released his major label debut: “Take It All Away.” The charismatic singer-songwriter shines on this album, filled with sparkling melodies, vibrant instrumentation, and breezy vocals.

The Four Seasons
The Genuine Imitation Life Gazette
-
Philips PHS 600-290
released 1969.
-
And what does it mean to be the most bizarre album in the Four Seasons' catalog? Psychedelic, ambitious and conceptual, The Genuine Imitation Life Gazette took the Four Seasons in an entirely unexpected direction at the time, as the group became influenced by other socially-conscious bands and inspired by the new sounds being created by groups like The Beatles and The Beach Boys. But the problem was the fact that no one expected anything but a top 40 record from the Four Seasons, so the album was poorly received (according to Valli one review said that "had that album been done by anyone but us it would have been a smash album"). Despite the lack of commercial success however, the record has become a bit of a cult classic, with reviews praising it as a "stunning example of the artistry of the Four Seasons at their most ambitious." Reportedly, even John Lennon considered it to be one of his favorites
Original album tracks:
'American Crucifixion Resurrection' / 'Mrs. Stately's Garden' / 'Look Up Look Over' / 'Something's On Her Mind' / 'Saturday's Father' / 'Wall Street Village Day' / 'Genuine Imitation Life' / 'Idaho' / 'Wonder What You'll Be' / 'Soul Of A Woman'
Bonus tracks:
'Watch The Flowers Grow' / 'Raven' / 'Will You Love Me Tomorrow' / 'Electric Stories'
