Joshua Rifkin - The Baroque Beatles Book (1965)

©1965 Elektra (EKL-306)
Vinyl rip Mp3 320 Kb/s

Musiciologist-conductor-pianist Joshua Rifkin’s The Baroque Beatles Book is a milestone from the early days of Nonesuch Records.  It began as a marketing concept-cum-youthful prank: How about writing Baroque-era arrangements of the Fab Four’s Top 40 hits,as if Lennon & McCartney were contemporaries of Bach & Handel? Beatlemania and the Baroque were both in fashion with theirrespective audiences, and the disc became a crossover hit at the height of the 1965 holiday season. But The Baroque Beatles Book was no mere novelty item. Over the years it has gained downright legendary status among Beatles fans, classical enthusiasts and those who have followed the remarkable evolution of the Nonesuch label. Newsweek declared the collection “inspired”; the Boston Globe called it “brilliant.”

Neil Harrison - All Dressed Up And Nowhere To Go (1974)

Neil Harrison was born in December 1950 in West Kirby, Cheshire.
He is a British musician. In 1980 he was a founder-member of The
Beatles tribute band, The Bootleg Beatles, in which he played John
Lennon.

Years before the Bootleg Beatles, Harrison released an album, on
Deram Records called All Dressed Up and Nowhere To Go. The
album sounds very similar to The Beatles' works but although he
looks like Lennon and his name is Harrison, the songs are more
McCartney.

The album didn't sell well but is a great listen!

Tracklist: 01.Sad Eyes, 02.Behind The Red Brick Wall, 03.This Is London,
04.Dear Love Of Mine, 05.Melancholia, 06.Crisis Point, 07.This Is The Life For
A Woman, 08.Joanna, 09.Here With You, 10.I Need A Friend Like You, 11.Till

Disc 1: Beat Club: Everybody's Talking Derek Taylor intro The Music of Nilsson The Smothers Brothers Summer Show Playboy After Dark Skidoo Trailer - Notes: - The Playboy clip has been edited together from two different sources to present the material in its complete form and in the best available quality. - The Music of Nilsson (aka the first BBC show) is from a brand-new source and has been subject to full audio restoration. After this, no-one will feel the need to mourn the lack of an official release of this or the LTOSITN telecast.

Disc 2: A Little Touch of Schmilsson In The Night Did Somebody Drop His Mouse? - Notes: Both from new sources. See above re: audio restoration.

Disc 3: The Ghost and Mrs. Muir Only You All I Think About Is You Who Done It? Loneliness Beatlefest '84 Rehearsal & Performance Intermedio (?) - Notes: The episode of "Muir" has been reedited from two different sources. While it is still missing about 90 seconds' worth of footage, none of that material featured Harry. The "Only You" clip is a color-corrected version of the officially-released footage (from the Ringo Starr "Photograph" bonus DVD). Beatlefest '84 is sourced from the original VHS camcorder tape. If anyone has more information on the "Intermedio" telecast, please let me know as soon as possible. It is undoubtedly Harry's final appearance on (Spanish) television and may, in fact, be one of the saddest things I've ever seen (in light of its context). - Easter eggs only available via the "play all" menu option: Ringo and Harry's appearance at the Grammy Awards and their promotional ad for the Duit On Mon Dei LP.

Bonus disc: Beat Club: Everybody's Talking (repeat from disc 1) Nilsson et Peggy March 1941 & Good Old Desk - This material represents what little we've been able to uncover from Harry's 1968 promotional tour of Europe. This disc runs roughly 30 minutes.

Who Is Harry Nilsson

1,5 Gb AVI. 2006/2010

“When you say the name ‘Harry Nilsson’ people either get it right away or they have no idea.” -Tommy Smothers
-
Why is everybody talking about him? Everybody, in this case, is Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Brian Wilson, Randy Newman, Yoko Ono, Robin Williams, The Smothers Brothers, Van Dyke Parks and other industry friends. These are the real narrarators of Nilsson’s story and their warm, sometimes hilarious yarns reveal the genuine respect and love his contemporaries felt for him. Nilsson was brilliant, complicated and had a rebellious dark side. With a little help from friends like John Lennon and Keith Moon, he created the blueprint for real rock and roll excess which eventually lead to his undoing.
-
Originally released in 2006, the film has been re-released in theaters as of September 2010, this time with additional footage of Nilsson and interviews with his wife and children.
-
“Harry answered to no man. He did as he pleased and had way too much fun while he did it.” - Mickey Dolenz

The Beatles - Hell

©2008 Marshall Records 23-EOIO-06
192 kbps incl. artwork.

After releasing the hugely successful HATE in 2006, Pete ’Best’ Zarustica and The Beatles decided it was time for another round of remixes to protest against the war… and that’s just what you get!

The Beatles' HELL comes to serve the world with classic tunes remixed for your listening pleasure. The Fab-Four poets of Limbo – or Liverpool – decided to pay a visit to HELL, like Prince William and loads of other soldiers who are still fighting this ludicrous war in the Middle-East. They took a ticket to ride in the same circles Dante described TR-708 years ago, but didn’t enjoyed it - in fact they regret it. But you can enjoy this trip (and it is a trip) downloading NOW their latest LP, The Beatles' HELL, yeah!

The Pete Best Band
Hayman's Dream

Casbah Coffee Club 2008
CD-rip 224-320 Kbps VBR

Wich ex-beatle made the best album in 30 years?
-
Normally I won't post anything what's been released quite recently but I am totally stunned by this album. Listening to this album one can only wonder what great musical contributions he could have made to the Beatles if Pete Best was not been replaced by Ringo Starr. We would miss "Don't Pass Me By" wouldn't we?
-
Well, Pete was a Beatle a long, long, time ago. Best joined The Beatles on 12 August 1960, only one day before they were to go to Hamburg to play a season of concerts. He was dismissed from the group two years later, on 16 August 1962. His drumming can be heard on the Silver Beatles "Decca Tapes" and as one of the Beat Brothers (Beatles) on "Tony Sheridan and The Beat Brothers" as well on the first "Love Me Do" version.
-
Best later relocated to the United States along with songwriters Wayne Bickerton and Tony Waddington. They ultimately released an album on Cameo Records titled "Best Of The Beatles". The group disbanded shortly afterwards. Bickerton and Waddington were to find greater success as songwriters in the 1970s, writing a series of hits by the Rubettes.
-
Nowadays, The Pete Best Band regularly tours the U.S. and he recently released this album. All tracks on their new album Haymans Green is written or co-written by Pete Best. The lyrics are very "autobiographic". Haymans Green is is filled with wonderful songs and is without doubt Beatlesque.
-
What about that little torn piece of photo on the albumcover? It's the piece of history what is missing on the Beatles Anthology album...

The Beatles Revival Band
Taking My Time

©1980 Shark Records INT 148.504
320 Kbps Vinyl rip.

The Beatles Revival Band is a german cover band, founded 1976 in Frankfurt, Germany. The Beatles Revival Band has been called “the most successful cover band ever” but before they started recording only covers they made an album with self written tunes in the style of the Beatles. Listen to it five times and you start to wonder why they ever continued as a coverband and not as a rockband with their own songs. If you like Beatles, Klaatu, Oasis, The Smithereens and/or Crowded House (just to name a few) this is for you.
-
The Beatles Revival Band is Bobby Matthes, Klaus Larish and Christian Engel. Jim (James) Hopkins-Harrison (of the band Lake) is gueststarring on leadvocals (tracks 2, 3 and 8).

Emitt Rhodes - Daisy-Fresh from Hawthorne, California (The Best of the Dunhill Years)

BRCD 001
Dunhill Records/Edsel Records UK 1998

This 23-track CD covers the three records he made for Dunhill in the early 1970s, including all of his self-titled debut solo release. Emitt Rhodes sounds eerily reminiscent of Paul McCartney, but his strong songwriting and the deeply emotional qualities he brings to his songs make him far more than a McCartney clone.

Most people are discovering Emitt just now, long after he faded into a footnote. Emitt should have been as big as any pop star on this planet, but it was not to be.

BEATLES
Hate
-
released 2006.

The general opinion on the Beatles recent LOVE album is that it's a pretty nifty piece of work. Very much a labour of love for producer George Martin and his technoboffin son Giles. A patchwork of outtakes and edits, it recasts the Beatles legacy as one of sonic adventurers in the 21st Century. In other words, it sounds fantastic.

And then this album came. Sir George Master Five and Pete Best Zarustica spent 7 entire days planning this record. The Beatles HATE album is the dark side of the LOVE album, taking samples from bootlegs and welding them to a much darker worldview. It lacks the gloss of the Martins' effort but makes up for it in many other ways.

The tracks names on The Beatles' HATE were changed and adapted to match the belical concept of the record.

01 - Intro / Revolution 23 (This track is built on samples of various Beatles tracks, like Julia, Baby It's You/ The opening chord from I Feel Fine /  Rooster from Good Morning /  Lyrics from Julia /  Lyrics from Revolution Number 9 /  Lyrics from Baby It's You / Lennon's ending from Helter Skelter / 'Everybody is Happy' and the ooooohs choir from Sun King / The backwards crescendo chord from 'What's the New Mary Jane' / The bass line from Lady Madonna , re-arranged. (see how they run....) / Drums and Harmonica from The Clash, The Guns Of Brixton) * 02 - Drive My War (Drive My Car remixed). * 03 - Tomorrow Never Blows (Tomorrow Never Blows remixed). * 04 - Day Reaper (Day Tripper remixed). * 05 - From Me To Whom? (From me to you remixed. Contains a Gary Glitter drum sample). * 06 - Bomb Together (Come together remixed. Contains samples of Primal Scream's Come Together). * 07 - What's The New Sarah Jane (Another track with loads of samples, especially from BBC series Doctor Who. You can hear the sound of the TARDIS and a sample from the episode The Empty Child - "I'm scared, please let me in mommy I'm scared of the bombs... mommy, are you my mommmy". Sarah Jane Smith is also a reference, as she was the companion of The Doctor, seasons 11 to 14). * 08 - I'm Nuking Through You (I'm Looking Through You mashed-up with Renegade Soundwave's track Holgertron). * 09 - Lovely Retard (Lovely Rita mashed-up with Renegade Soundwave's track Traitor. * 10 - You've Got To Hide Your Hate Away (You've Got To Hide Your Love Away remixed). * 11 - Horny Pie (Honey Pie pitched down and filled with effects). * 12 - Why? (A trip hop remix of Because). * 13 - Buddy Girl (Girl remixed).  14 - Sadness Is A War Gun (Happiness is a Warm Gun remixed).  15 - War Fields Forever (Strawberry Fields Forever remixed).

The Fab Four - Have yourself a fabulous Christmas/A Fab Four Christmas

Have yourself a fabulous Christmas

MP3 320 Kbps 44.1 32.05 Min 61,5 MB

Wasn't this done a few years ago by the Rubber Band? Sure was, and it was fabulous. Nevertheless, the Fab Four, a fairly well-known Beatles tribute band, have met them on the field of battle, bringing with them not one, but two full albums of Christmas goodness. The Fabs take the same approach to their tunes, even attacking some of the same songs (inevitable, I guess) as the Rubber Band, but there's plenty to choose between the two, and Beatles fans won't be sorry to have all three in their collections. The Fabs cut a wider swath across the history of the Beatles -- the two CDs are even (coincidentally) color-coded the same as the famous Beatles 62-66 and 67-70 collections to tip off committed listeners -- and their vocal impressions, particularly of Paul and John, are more authentic. Some of the more inventive arrangements include "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" via "When I'm 64" and "Honey Pie," "Silent Night" as "Norwegian Wood," "The Christmas Song" as "Here, There and Everywhere," "Good King Wenceslaus" sung to "Tell Me What You See" and "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" as "Within You Without You." An extra treat on Fabulous is "Dear Santa," a cut from Ringo Starr's Christmas album done to the arrangement of "Oh! Darling."

1 Santa Claus Is Coming to Town (2:08) / 2 Silent Night (3:10) / 3 Christmas Song (2:45) / 4 God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen (3:05) / 5 Little Drummer Boy (3:34) / 6 Dear Santa (3:27) / 7 What Child Is This? (4:37) / 8 Blue Christmas (3:51) / 9 Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree (2:49) / 10 Jingle Bells (2:38)
